My name is Madeleine French and I am an emerging textile designer from Melbourne, Australia who has recently moved to London.

A versatile designer with particular interest in knit and construction design, I like to create innovative designs and knits using a range of needle sizes and a domestic knitting machine. I like to explore a variety of techniques and materials in order to create textured pieces.

In keeping with my versatility, I experiment with multiple techniques and mediums to create print designs and patterns. I like to explore mark making techniques to produce textural designs and enjoy manipulating these design into patterns using CAD.

I have created designs for commercial brands such as Country Road, Linen House, Maxwell Williams and print house Pattern Source. In addition I have worked on a range of wallpaper designs for Design to Prints wallpaper collection, all of which were marketed towards young girls.

Currently, I enjoy working with a variety of mediums such a watercolour, inks and pens to create simple motifs and colourful designs. My recent travels around Europe form the basis for my inspiration.
